Lord Of The Flies-Chapters 1-4
NOTE: THE PARAGRAPHS DON'T WORK FOR SOME REASON, BUT HERE IS MY BLOG ANYWAY. (IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THREE SEPARATE PARAGRAPHS THOUGH) My prediction for the fate of the boys is explained through the metaphor of the pigs. I believe that each boy resembles the pigs that they are trying to kill for meat. Since the "hunters" just killed a pig, I believe that these boys will start to either kill eachother or die of other causes (such as the boy who died in the fire.) I think that Jack and his choir will be the first to go, because they will get themselves into danger while hunting. Piggy and Ralph will end up surviving because they are calm and have the most common sense out of all the boys. If good is rewarded and evil is punished, then Jack will be punished because he did not fufil his duties as the keepers of the fire and he was very proud of killing the pig. Ralph has been pretty good when it comes to leadership, but he is not very compassionate about the "littleuns." He wouldn't be rewarded or punished. Simon and Maurice would be rewarded, as would Piggy. Samneric would be punished, because they were proud of their hunt. If I was to identify myself with one character so far, it would probably be Simon because he seems to take things into consideration. He is able to think clearly in the situations they are put in and he is somewhat of an adult figure to the "littleuns" because he doesn't pick on them like everyone else does.

Hey Perri!
Well, you have quite a detailed prediction there now don't you? While some of your ideas mirror mine, many are quite different (or more specific). Your thought process made me reconsider some elements of the book, and what might possibly happen later on. As for the goodness/evilness spectrum, we are pretty much in sync. Finally, I concur wholeheartedly that you relate to Simon in his careful consideration, as having worked with you both in school and through Student Government I have seen you clearly demonstrate characteristics similar to those of Simon.
Always,
Brittany
